Centering the voice of the people, building our collective power!
Building an Equitable North Carolina for the People!
Laying out priorities for investing in Social, Economic and Environmental Justice.
Housing Stability and Affordability
Expand affordable homeownership and rental opportunities through public land, community land trusts, and housing trusts that promote long-term affordability and tenant stability.
Protect tenants in neighborhoods facing rising rents and low vacancy rates by supporting right-to-purchase opportunities, community ownership models, and funding legal assistance to prevent unjust evictions.
Invest in housing justice initiatives that prevent displacement and stabilize communities.
Create smart developer incentives such as density bonuses, reduced parking requirements, and expedited permitting for developments serving households earning 30–60% of Area Median Income.
Healthy Neighborhoods and Health Equity
Invest in public infrastructure that builds safe, connected communities and expands mobility and access for historically underserved neighborhoods.
Fund high-quality neighborhood resources that support health and economic opportunity, including access to healthy food, clean air, safe parks, and community spaces.
Advance health equity strategies so no neighborhood is left without the essentials of a healthy built environment.
Public Safety and Community Well-Being
End the mass criminalization of communities of color by shifting resources toward prevention, restorative justice, and community-based solutions.
Expand unarmed crisis response programs, like HEART, to provide appropriate, non-police responses to diverted 911 calls and mental health crises.
Economic justice is the foundation of a thriving North Carolina. Every family deserves economic security, dignity at work, and the ability to plan for the future. My economic mobility agenda focuses on removing systemic barriers, investing in people, and ensuring public dollars build shared prosperity.
Advocating for childcare and adult family care to be treated as essential economic infrastructure by:
Supporting legislation and budget investments that stabilize childcare providers and raise wages for care workers
Advancing universal childcare for ages 0–3 and universal pre-K through phased funding and pilot programs
Partnering with colleagues to protect family caregivers through tax credits, respite care funding, and workforce supports
Creataing bills and budget provisions that help families meet basic needs and build stability, including:
Expanding the Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit
Creating non-repayable circuit breakers for seniors on fixed incomes
Supporting targeted income supports that help families weather economic shocks and build savings
Within the Srare Senate, I will work to:
Oppose regressive tax shifts that increase reliance on sales taxes and user fees
Support legislation that restores progressivity to the tax code and asks the wealthiest individuals and corporations to pay their fair share
Use budget negotiations to reduce hidden fees that disproportionately burden working families
I will co-sponsor and advocate for legislation that allows state and local governments to:
Condition public contracts and incentives on local hiring, living wages, and strong workplace protections
Require benefits such as paid leave, healthcare access, and apprenticeship pipelines
Strengthen enforcement against wage theft and labor violations tied to public funding
I will support and advance legislation to:
Raise the state minimum wage toward a true living wage of approximately $20 per hour, indexed to inflation
Eliminate carve-outs so tipped, agricultural, domestic, part-time, and contingent workers are fully covered
Use committee hearings to elevate data on cost-of-living impacts across regions
I will champion policies that:
Fully fund public education and workforce training pipelines
Align universal childcare and pre-K investments with long-term workforce development
Expand access to apprenticeships, credentialing, and career pathways for low-income workers
Through legislation and budget advocacy, I will:
Support investments in public transit, broadband, and infrastructure that improve access to jobs and services
Prioritize underserved and rural communities in economic development planning
Ensure mobility and connectivity remain central to economic growth strategies
Building systems that withstand climate risks while fostering long-term economic prosperity for resilience & sustainability.
Advocating to address outdoor worker rights and Improving outdoor worker safety standards
Building sustainable infrastructure developing roads, energy systems, and water management that can withstand extreme weather events and rising sea levels while fostering long-term economic prosperity
Creating Nature-Based Solutions Investing in projects like urban tree planting, watershed protection, and sustainable agriculture, which can sequester carbon, reduce erosion, and provide co-benefits like improved public health and biodiversity.
Developing Circular Economy Investing in services and infrastructure that enhance material reuse and reduce waste, offering diversification and growth opportunities.
Funding Climate Technology & Innovation supporting the development of new technologies in areas like water purification, advanced weather monitoring, and sustainable packaging.
